Part 34: Waiting or knocking?

When I got down at Mangalore Railway station, I straightaway went and bought one copy of that Film Fare magazine as a keepsake for my decision to learn Tamil. And also went to ‘Athri Bock stall’ (A famous book shop of Mangalore) and bought few books about Tamil learning. Thereafter I left to home. I was very sure that if I would be able to read and write Tamil then that would be helpful on my career too.

Believe it or not within the next two days I was able to read and write almost 90percent. It was totally unbelievable! I had never thought about it. Accidentally they played ‘Moongil Kaadugale song on SS Music this time again. Normally I used to change the channel in such cases but this time I couldn’t. Why? Come on, what was wrong with me? Actually nothing was wrong. Fact was I couldn’t be so ungrateful towards him. After all he was my Tamil master. Haha… Yeah. I know he did not come and teach but indirectly he was there as inspiration to learn Tamil.

Whom do you treat as great whether the person who gives you money whenever you need it or the person who teaches you how to earn money, who is great? Obviously I will go for the second one. Do you know why? Because the first one provokes you to be dependant where second one leads you to be independent. It is he who teaches you the way to lead your life, got it?

This time I was spellbound by the song ‘Moongil Kaadugale.

‘Oh gosh! What a beautiful song I used to skip many times. The song reminded so many things. I found my thoughts and myself in the song. It reminded me of my Priyatam again. He is the one who does things which I want to do. Can you remember where the hero sees his another form I mean inner soul enjoying the nature, dancing with the tribe?

Again Hariharan’s melodies voice, what I missed in ‘Alaipayude’s ‘Pachainirame’ song I got in ‘Moongil Kadugale’. Wonderful thing is you cannot make out the fact that two singers had sung the song ‘Moongil Kadugale’. Moongil Kadugale went on to become one among my all time favourite song. Later I went and bought the audio cd.

Most surprisingly in one of the theatres of Mangalore they put ‘Saamurai’ movie again. This time I went to watch the movie just for the sake of ‘Moongil’ song. But the movie gave me the bonus in the form of ‘AagayaSooriyane ’. What lovely songs! I was speechless. I was least bothered about the storyline. Can you guess why I liked the movie though it did not have a good storyline? Not only those two songs but the colour black. Vikram wears the black colour costumes many times in that movie. Without any doubt I noticed he looks deadly in black. And my favourite look was in the song ‘Aagaya’ when he comes in the Arabian’s wardrobe. Uh?

Saamurai’ was not a great movie or brilliant one but the effort put by Vikram to pull up a role like Tyagaraj didn’t go unnoticed. One more strange fact was I noticed about him that he never allow the audience to think about other heroes doing that role. Only Kamal has got that kind a screen presence. Not only that, one more additional fact was the ability of him to bring out an action hero image along with acting skills.

This time I had to go to Hosapet and Bellary on my official tour. That was the place I wanted to visit since many years. Reason was simple. After all, how can one forget the great Hampi and the king Krishnadevaraya of Vijaya Nagara Empire being a Canarean. It was during his time the south India reached the zenith of glory and prosperity. Just guess, if the gold and diamonds were sold at the streets Kg wise means then do want a better example than this for the prosperity? How can one forget how the glory touched the bottom line of tragedy, which will remain inerasable, forever in the history of South India? Tears will roll down if you read the history of this dynasty! How a small misunderstanding can lead towards the biggest disaster, you can never get a burning example than Humpi! Each and every rock of Humpi will tell you a breathtaking story of this tragedy.

I was so happy that I was going to visit Humpi. And of course no need to say ‘Saamurai’ songs CD was my companion in my journey, though songs acquired a permanent place in my heart Vikram couldn’t attain a place in my heart but I feel he was on his way to get it in the near future. May be he was waiting for the right opportunity- ? Or was knocking the door?
