Part 28: Confused!!!!!!!!

When I went to Coimbatore again in April, Dhool was on its way towards to become one among the top twenty grosser in all of Indian Cinema, stunning, considering this movie is in Tamil and therefore only Tamil speaking audiences would watch it. It must be a fluke, many said in private. My opinion was also not different. Rajesh wanted to take me to watch Dhool this time as well. Somehow I could not as I had to return to Mangalore.

When I came back to Mangalore, once again on Sun T.V I saw the trailers of Dhool, Saamy and Kadal Sadugudu together one after another. I was surprised to see them. ‘Oh God, how many movies this fellow will do in a year?’ Again in May month end I had an official tour to Salem and Coimbatore. This tour really put me in a confusion whether Tamil Nadu is a state where there is also a god called Vikram? Such was the Saamy mania. Almost each and everyone were praising the movie. Whether the song Kalyananthan was state anthem, I was so confused. I was just wondering why these people are crazy so much about him or the movie? I just felt like all were crazy. No other work for them.

Hence I decided to find out the fact. I had a friend named Nagraj, a big fan of Vijay. ‘Yes, He could tell me the fact. Yeah. That’s how I do enquiry. I wanted to know his opinion about Saamy.

As a surprise he said, ‘Hari Sir, you know very well that I am Vijay fan. But still I’ve seen both Dhool and Saamy. Both are good but I liked Dhool much more than Saamy. Being a loyal fan of Vijay,he explained about Madurai Veeran song sequence. I found it quite interesting. He suggested me to see those movies as well. But who cares? Accidentally they played both Idudana and Aasai Aasai songs same time. I liked both the songs as Chitra and Shankar Mahadevan were among my favourite singers. Both the songs were so nicely picturised but I’d never felt like I should watch the movie.

Here let me share one quite interesting thing, a debate between Mr.X fans and Vikram fans. Accidentally I had to become a part of it. When I had been to meet my friend Nagraj at his home there was a guy called Bhaskar who was Vikram’s fan. Almost 15 people were there including me. Except Bhaskar everyone was Mr.X fan. Let me remind I was not anyone’s fan. When a debate arose about the subject who is better actor they decided to make two groups and debate on it and requested me to be the judge, as I was not anyone’s fan of course all of us were free, as we’d finished our respective works. But when they formed two group there was only one member in Vikram’ s group as Bhaskar was alone there.

Other friends like Rajesh, Prashanth who were the fans of Vikram were not present there. One more thing was all the people who were out there were from South Canara, our district. It was quite interesting, as all the people who were not Tamilians were about to discuss about two Tamil actors! But as I said I found Bhaskar was alone in other group.

Mr.X fans group started to retort in the beginning by saying. ‘Have you seen? Your group is totally weak. That itself shows who is the great actor.’

I could not tolerate it seriously. Bhaskar was helpless. I decided something. I requested Nagraj’s mother to be the judge and decided to accompany Bhaskar. Bhaskar felt like he had got two elephant’s power.Nagraj was totally dumbstruck by my decision. He told me to join them.

I replied saying, ‘you’ve already got majority of people .Bhaskar is alone. So it’s better to join him.’

Nagraj replied, ‘No, I know you are alone is enough to face 100 People in debate. You will take the credit away by our group.’

I convinced, ‘Look, Nagraj, you know very well. I don’t know much about of Vikram. How can I win the debate? I am joining with Bhaskar, as he should not be alone.’

At last they agreed.

I was laughing in my sleeves because I knew that at any cost I would turn the ball towards Bhaskar. Yeah, I agree that I didn’t know much about Vikram but I had almost much more details about Mr. X. And others were totally unaware of it. I hate comparisons between actors but still I don’t know why I decided to support and be a part of an actor in that debate about whom I did not know much. And I had not seen a single movie of his yet. In fact I had seen Mr. X’s few selected movies. I decided to use the cards including the trump card.

Trump card means not winning but stopping others by winning!

And that’s how we started an interesting debate.
