Part 14: Mridula ! One and only Mridula!!

Mridula! One and only Mridula!

The main spirit behind Priyatam! His wife, girlfriend, guide, friend. Yes. The combination of all.
It’s none other than Mridula who plays a major role in Priyatam’s life.

If Shanti wants to meet someone desperately then without any doubt it is Mridula. And her two kids. Shrestha and Tejas!

Reason is simple. There may not be any day where Priyatam doesn’t praise her and kids’ mischief in his chat with Shanti during their train journey.

Trust me. It’s none other than these three people who takes the entire story as a real dream family and everyone would be very curious to meet them at the climax of the story Sneham.

Most of the time my heroine Shanti starts to think about Mridula and feels jealous about her. Just for one reason because she is really lucky to get such a nice person like Priyatam as her life partner who cares, loves and understands her a lot.

Shanti openly says once with Priyatam, ‘You made many girls to lose a very good boy friend, as you got married very early’.

But Priyatam’s answer will be the same as always, ‘It’s not Mridula who is lucky but it’s me who is lucky to get such a girl in my life. I always love to be called as Mridula’s husband rather than she is my wife.’

Mridula is an ordinary woman who plays an extraordinary role in my story Sneham. The perfect example for the words ‘Behind every successful man there is a woman!’

Just let me share one very important incident of their life from my story.

Priyatam will be a chain-smoker in the script. Mridula wants him to quit smoking. But she will not say him directly, as he is very sensitive.

One fine day she asks him, ‘Priyatam, just can you think and write that that if you come to know that you have only 3 days to live this life and you have to leave this world. What are the things you would like to do in those three days?’

Her simple question makes Priyatam to think.

She says, ‘Don’t just write for the sake of writing. Feel as you are in such a situation and write sincerely’ and she gives him a paper to write down all those things.

Priyatam sincerely feels so and writes and reads it as her wish.

‘I want to dance in the rain once again. I want to gaze at animals. I want to see the flower while it blossoms. I want to enjoy the nature. I would like to view the sky in the night from the terrace. I want to sing in bathroom. I want to see the rainbow. I want to pour water to the growing plant. I want to help the needy people as much as possible. I want to give the food by my own hands to the poor who is hungry and when he gets satisfied I want to see that satisfaction. I want to keep others happy... so happy. And in their happiness I want to see the happiness of my life. I want to cook your favourite dish and want to give it you. And of course, would like to hear your comment on that. I want to join hands with you in your home works and tease you while you work. Ooops! I want to call up to your cell phone by some other name, by changing voice and want to talk to you in a romantic way saying that I am your great fan and crazy about you. And want to see your reaction so that I can pull your legs. I want to play with our kids. We will play hide and seek game. I want to take them to the restaurant along with you. I want to take all of you on a long drive. I want to play with all of you at the beach with waves. I want to see the Taj Mahal, a symbol of pure love. I want to walk on the beach barefoot holding your hands in my hands. And then want to look into your eyes. Just want to look at them for the whole day, want to forget the whole world, everything, even myself within you!’

Mridula just looks at him. His child look but yet so powerful eyes resemble his sincerity.

‘Okay, Priyatam. Can you remove those wishes by this list which may disturb your smoking hours?’

‘No. I can’t remove any of those wishes. Those wishes can never disturb me.’

‘Okay. Did you see, Priyatam? You did not write anywhere that you want to smoke before the death. It shows that you can quit smoking to get these beautiful moments. Then why don’t you quit it? Is it so important? You know it very well that one single cigar takes 6 precious hours of your life away from you. Instead of smoking you can get those beautiful moments and enjoy. Normally you take 6 cigars at least in a day that means you are loosing 36 hours of these beautiful moments and by that cigar’s money you can get a food to the needy person and can see his satisfaction. You don’t have any rights to burn a note in the form of cigar by which you can fulfill one’s hunger. It may be your hard earn money but still you don’t have any right. Don’t you think so? You are intelligent and know more about it. Still why don’t you, Priyatam? In our 8 years of love I did not ask any thing from you but you gave me everything in my life! But today for the first time I am asking. Can you give?’

Priyatam looks into her eyes; he knows what she is going to ask.

Breaking the silence between them Mridula takes his hands into her hands looks into his eyes and says.

‘If the very next moment death knocks at my door and says that he will give me one minute more to take my last breath I will take you full of my heart instead of oxygen. I may live without oxygen but not without you! Without you I am just like a dead body. It was you who showed me the true meaning of love! Meaning of life! Meaning of relationship! Meaning of a marriage! Meaning of happiness! And meaning of myself! If god keeps you at the one end and all the happiness of this world at the other end and says me to opt for any one between them, then I will go for you because without you the whole world’s happiness is meaningless. I can be with you for 1000 years though if it is at hell but cannot live in the heaven for one second without you! I may be or may not be here tomorrow but my love for you will always remain forever and ever. I may be a part of your life but for me you are my life, Priyatam! You are my life! Give up that habit, Priyatam. Just for me! Can't you? The momentary pleasure which you get by the cigar can never come near to those beautiful moments you listed out. To forget the daily pleasures at work you may have got addicted to that habit but don’t forget that you are not burning a cigar instead you are burning your hard earned money! Some one’s meal! Burning all those beautiful moments of your life! Your family’s dream! Burning your health! Burning yourself! You are burning me! Yes, Priyatam because I never thought you and me are separate. I cannot see you burning yourself I don’t want to lose you, Priyatam!’

For few people Mridula’s words might look like dramatic but if you read the whole story then you can feel what she means.

Is it sweet or straight? Is it a request or order? Is it practical or emotional??

Priyatam cannot understand. He can feel the sweating.

In those simple words she shows the care and love towards him. He just looks in to her eyes. Those beautiful eyes on which he fell in love with her at first sight.

He can remember she never used mirror till the date to apply eyeliner to her eyes. She normally says Priyatam to stand in front of her and through looking into his eyes she does that work Very strange! Isn’t it? But yes. Only this couple knows the real joy in that. Priyatam cannot utter a single word for her words. How can he? That becomes the last day! He never touches cigar in his life thereafter! That is the way he gives respect to her and way of keeping a promise.

Whenever Shanti meets Priyatam, she loves to listen to Priyatam’s words. His words about his family! His words about his dreams! Whenever he talks about his family he forgets himself.

Hey, wait a minute I think I have forgotten myself as well. After all Priyatam he is none other than my inner soul, nah? Forgive me but what to do Mridula is such a person who leaves such an impression on reader’s mind. It’s not so easy to forget her. Priyatam too cannot forget her in his life at any moment.

He always says, ‘Mridula! One and only Mridula! My very own angel!’

Are angels free from curse? I wish if they were…then my Priyatam would have never faced such a situation at the climax of my story Sneham.

At the end he asks only one question to Shanti, ‘Whether the kids who grow up at orphans school are the unluckiest people in the world? But today I' m unluckier than them.’

Why he says so?? What does he mean?? Sneham reveals the heartbreaking secret at the climax stage.

While going back to her native in the climax of the story Sneham, Shanti can hear only those words of Priyatam…. Those sweet words.

‘Mridula! One and only Mridula! My very own angel!’
