I did not know which movie’s poster it was (Actually it was Dhool movie’s poster .I just turned my sight and closed my eyes.
‘In Bhagavad Geetha, there is a saying, whatever happened it happened for the best and whatever happens it happens for the best. I hope surely something will happen which will be the best’, I thought so.
Time was flying to start a New Year. I didn’t know that along with the New Year a new chapter is going to open in my life. Yes, it’s true! Everything happens for the best. Tragedy is most of us will realise it later.
January 1st 2003 .New year day
When I came out of the railway station to catch an auto to go to the hotel, a poster, which someone had pasted in front of the Coimbatore railway station, took my attention. I was not able to read the name of the movie. But it was really a nice poster. I was able to identify the two persons in that poster. Only 3 people’s photos were in that. Left one was one of my favourite actor Surya and the right one was actress Laila. The middle one? I couldn’t recollect his name because his face was not so familiar to me. He was in different get up as well in that poster. I just asked with the taxi driver that which movie’s it is. He said, ‘It’s Pithamagan.
I asked, ‘Is it running in theatres?’.
He replied, ‘No’.
I thought they might have just announced the movie.
‘Who’s the director?’, I asked.
‘It’s Bala’s movie’, he replied.
‘Bala?? Mm. Interesting. The one who made Nanda (movie name), right?’, I asked.
He replied, ‘Yes, before that he made Sethu too. It was superb the best movie I have ever seen.’
‘Sethu? Which is that one? I think I have heard about it sometimes? Who acted in it?’. That was my question as I had forgotten its hero’s name.
He replied, ‘My hero, Vikram! The one who was at the middle snap of that poster? He acts superb.’
‘Okay .Okay. Then this will be a good movie I feel.’
Actually I couldn’t tolerate when he started appreciate the other hero (Vikram) in front of my favourite actor Surya (Sorry. I was not a fan of Vikram but I was considering him as good among other actors). That was reason I changed the topic.
The next few days I just concentrated on my work. I kept myself so busy. I’d adopted a new attitude. I stopped my self from mingling with the others. Just Work, work, work. I became almost workaholic.
One night I went to see the movie Mounam Pesiyade with one of my colleague. I liked the movie specially the song Adatha Atamella. It was so nice just like my thoughts.
I decided to come to back to Mangalore on 12th. When I informed about this to Rajesh, my colleague, he was upset.
He said, ‘Be here for another few days. Then you can go. Look .I have even booked a ticket for you for day after tomorrow show- we’ll go and see the movie together.’
I replied, ‘No, Rajesh- I’m extremely sorry I’ve to go. Take any other for the movie.’
‘No..no, Hari- not others. I want to see this movie with you!’
‘Why? What’s special?’
‘If you go you may come only after 15 days. This movie is releasing tomorrow, a day after just a day before Pongal. Dhool! You must watch. Thereafter if you want you can go.’
‘No, Rajesh for just to see the movie I cannot stay .Anyhow next time when I come then we’ll go. Is it Okay?’
Rajesh tried to convince me a lot but could not convince. At last I told him that next time when I come we’d surely go. And as his wish we’d go for his favourite hero Vikram’s movie.
He agreed. So in such a way I returned to Mangalore on Jan12th night.
‘I don’t know even though he forced me in such a way, why I did not stay? And I don’t know what would have happened if I stayed there for one more day.
That is on Jan 13. The day when Dhool was going to release.
Is really everything happens for the best??
Dhool was supposed to be the first movie of Vikram’s that I was supposed to see with Rajesh. I had told him that we’d surely to go for his favourite hero Vikram’s movie when I come next time but I never knew that instead of next 15 days it would take 175+days!!
This is what I call fate’s game. It always holds something else for us. Same thing happened.
Is really everything happens for the best??
